MISTLEY PLACE PARK.

Manningtree, Essex

This project is one of a number of projects being undertaken by the Three Parishes Trust with the aim of creating better facilities and opportunities for the local community across Mistley, Manningtree and Lawford.

Concept

Mistley Place Park is a remnant of a former Georgian parkland landscape on the banks of the River Stour in north Essex.  AREA was commissioned to prepare an initial study, supported by a grant from the Community Assets and Services Grants Programme made available by Department for Communities & Local Government under the Localism Act. The key aim was to asses the potential of the park and explore mechanisms by which it could be secured, restored and developed as a green open space for the future benefit of the whole community.

Key Principles

To secure Mistley Place Park as a mainly green open space for the benefit of local people an visitors and improving the quality of the landscape and facilities to reflect and enhance the importance of such special place, restoring and incorporating elements such as:

  • trees and woodland
